Nurses, social workers and midwives to be exempt
Nurses, social workers and midwives won’t need work permits in future – if Tynwald approves new regulations this month.
Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly will move an order under the Control of Employment Act 2014.
The rules changes would see nurses, midwives and social workers become exempt, and a new definition of “medical practitioner” added.
There are also plans to allow temporary exemptions for those training staff in public authorities and voluntary bodies.
