Make it your mission to test smoke alarms
As we prepare to enter the new year, the Island's Fire and Rescue Service says now is the ideal time to make a new year's resolution which could save your life.
Officers say as people put up new calendars for 2017 - which they may have received at Christmas - each Tuesday can be marked with a reminder to test smoke alarms around the home.
The Fire Service has run its 'Test it Tuesday' campaign for several years, encouraging people not to forget their smoke alarms once fitted.
Provided they have fully-charged batteries, smoke alarms can provide vital minutes to escape from your property in the event of a fire.
