Coastline ruined by 'reckless actions'
Police say a fire at Niarbyl last night was caused by a discarded cigarette.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at an unoccupied hut just south of White Beach at 7pm.
Peel lifeboat transported firefighters to the bottom of a cliff to help them extinguish the fire from below.
The western coastguard team was also on hand to help line technicians access the area with hoses.
Police say although it appears to have been a 'genuine accident' it took up a lot of resource which may have been needed elsewhere.
They're urging people to exercise more caution when outside saying part of the beautiful coastline has now been ruined 'by someone's reckless actions'.
No one was hurt.
