But minister says her department remains 'committed' to addressing issue

There aren't currently any plans to implement a dedicated strategy to tackle loneliness on the Isle of Man.

That's according to the Health and Social Care Minister in written response to a Tynwald question from Onchan MHK, Rob Callister.

Claire Christian does say, however, her department is 'committed to addressing the issue through ongoing cross-government and cross-agency collaboration.'

Describing loneliness as a 'deeply personal and often invisible experience that can affect everyone', Ms Christian adds DHSC would welcome the chance to work with other departments, local authorities and the third sector 'to support initiatives that foster connection, inclusion and wellbeing.'

Meanwhile, the minister comments that Public Health - building on insights from its 'Ageing Well' Joint Strategic Needs Assessment - has developed a mini-topic exploring loneliness and social isolation amongst older adults on Island.

This has reportedly highlighted 'several opportunities for action' and the health department 'will continue to support multi agency collaboration where possible to address the opportunities for action derived from the Public Health mini topic.'
