Douglas Council was given the new title in May
No date has yet been set for an event to mark Douglas receiving city status.
The capital was granted the title in May this year as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
An event was scheduled to happen this month however due to external circumstances nothing has happened.
It's 'hoped' a member of the Royal Family might join a celebratory event in the future.
Mayor Janet Thommeny told Manx Radio the council will be acknowledging the change rather than celebrating it:
