It follows a claim made by a candidate at the hustings
Ramsey Commissioners says a claim of 'corruption' made by a candidate during the election process was 'wholly unfounded'.
The local authority confirmed it investigated the matter, which occurred six years ago, and spoke to several witnesses, examining records from the time.
Outgoing Chair Rob Cowell said: "As pretty much my last act as Chairman, I am pleased to report that these allegations have been investigated and found to have no substance.
"Public confidence in the commission is vital if they are to effectively serve the public, and I am now able to hand the baton to the new chair with a line drawn under a matter that was likely to undermine, had it been left without question.”
The commissioners added the person was spoken to at length and has since been updated with the outcome.
