
Couples in same-sex relationships in the Isle of Man should be legally permitted to adopt children, in the way heterosexual partners can.
That's the view of Ramsey MHK Allan Bell, the member in charge of the Civil Partnership Bill, which has passed through the clauses stage in the House of Keys.
The legislation is designed to give more rights to same-sex couples, although concerns have been expressed by some politicians about children being brought up outside the traditional family unit.
Mr Bell says he understands those concerns, but insists the interests of children remain paramount:
