Network teams expected to return to the bank later for additional checks
No gas has been detected at Isle of Man Bank and Natwest.
Earlier today the banks had to close their Athol Street branches in Douglas due to reports of a smell of gas on the site.
In a statement, Isle of Man Energy says engineers were in attendance within 15 minutes, during which time the building had been evacuated by members of the Isle of Man Fire Service.
Tests found no trace of gas within the building and the site was declared safe shortly afterwards.
Network teams are expected to return to the bank later to undertake additional checks.
This will result in a temporary closure of one of the lanes on Prospect Hill to protect the teams whilst working.
People are urged to contact the company is they smell or think they smell gas on the freephone gas emergency number 0808 1624 444.
