MHK says he's contacting 'senior politicians' to see if something can be arranged
Members of the public are unlikely to be able to go onboard the Isle of Man’s new vessel ‘Manxman’ ahead of her going into service.
The Steam Packet has confirmed there are no plans for an open day after the idea was floated on social media by people keen to see the inside of the new ship.
It says the focus is on preparing the vessel for service and ‘looking its best’ and logistically it would be ‘impossible for the company to achieve’ alongside work that still needs to be done.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse - who shared the Steam Packet's response to his question on Facebook - says he’s contacted the company, and ‘senior politicians’, about whether an opportunity can be arranged.
In a post on the social media site he wrote: "I recognise that there is a lot to organise in readiness for her entering service but previously there has been the opportunity to attend such events and there seemed to be a real excitement about the boat’s arrival yesterday."
