MHK asks if gov't has a duty to look into it
There are no plans to address rent levels in the private sector - according to the Policy and Reform Minister.
Addressing the House of Keys this morning (14 Feb), Chris Thomas told members current legislation already allows tenants to appeal the amount of rent they're required to pay.
Member for Ramsey Lawrie Hooper asked the minister whether government has a duty to be more proactive in the area, considering the poor standards and high rents of some properties.
Mr Thomas says the issue isn't straightforward:

Consultation open on plans to formally recognise the heritage of Douglas Head
Drop-in session to support Isle of Man charities
Fundraiser to keep St John Ambulance emergency fleet on the road
Ayre and Michael MHKs request meeting with commissioners over rates
Data breach impact rises sharply as cyber incidents affect thousands on Isle of Man
