Teachers are stressing there will be no industrial action in the Isle of Man next Wednesday (November 30), when strikes are due to close schools in England.
A statement from the Joint Teaching Unions, representing five staff organisations, has clarified the position on the Island.
The action in the UK is over possible changes to teachers' pensions and there are concerns about the issue on the Island as well.
However, because decisions on teachers' pensions are taken by the United Kingdom government, the unions on the Island are not involved in the current dispute.
The Joint Unions go onto say that should the Manx government be forced to bring in changes imposed by the UK government, they would look to Manx politicians for help.
The unions - the NUT, the NASUWT, the NAHT, the ATL and the ASCL - hope the politicians would make sure increased contributions could be protected in a designed fund.
