People studying dietetics can now complete an essential part of their degree in the Isle of Man.
Students need to complete 26 weeks of practical training as part of their course.
Previously this had to be done off-Island, but the Noble's Hospital Dietetic Service has now been approved to provide that element.
At present there are six dieticians in the Isle of Man, treating a wide range of conditions including malnutrition, diabetes and various eating disorders.
Becoming a dietician involves a wide range of scientific studies and they are the only nutrition professionals to be statutorily regulated and governed by an ethical code to make sure they always work to the highest standard.
Director of nursing at Noble's Bev Critchlow says the hospital is very pleased to be approved as a provider of dietetic training and the new status means continuity for students and patients will be greatly improved.
She says achievement also recognises the high standard of care provided by the Island's dietetic team.
