Government claims a good deal of the food served at Noble's Hospital is locally sourced.
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot was quizzed on the matter in Tynwald this morning (Tue) by Garff MHK Daphne Caine.
Based on figures supplied by colleagues in health, Mr Boot claimed that 'almost all' of the 90,000 pints of milk served to staff and patients each year was Manx.
Additionally, all of the 125,000 loaves of bread are supplied by Ramsey Bakery - although Laxey Flour is not used.
The Hospital, maintained Mr Boot, also uses Manx meat in all cases except poultry and pork:
