Mayor says it 'brings out the best' of the people of the city
Douglas Council has opened nominations for its community award scheme to recognise residents of the capital who have gone 'above and beyond' for others.
Mayor of Douglas Steven Crellin says the award 'brings out the best' of the people of the capital and supports 'good community spirit'.
There are two categories, a 'Community Champion' for residents who have made a 'significant difference' and a 'Young Hero' which recognises a child aged 15 or under.
Councillor Crellin says the applications are always 'interesting' and is looking forward to judging.

Last year's winner of the Young Hero award, Logan Connor said: "I was really happy when I found out I'd won. It was a big surprise and it made me feel proud.
"There are lots of people who do kind things for others and don't expect anything back. Sometimes it's the little things that can make a big difference to someone's day.
“If you know someone who is always helping people, being kind or doing something good for the community, I think you should nominate them. It's nice for people to know that what they do matters and that people appreciate it."
Nominations for both awards must be submitted by 23 October and a panel chaired by the Mayor of Douglas will choose the winners.
Entry forms can be completed on the council website or obtained by emailing the council directly.
