Around 40 people attended a requisition meeting last night, ahead of next week's North Douglas by-election.
But a good number in the audience at Willaston Methodist Hall were not residents of the constituency.
Candidates David Ashford, Marie Booth and Ralph Peake answered questions on issues ranging from the maintenance of Willaston council properties and the Steam Packet user agreement, to whether the Island should have a unicameral, or single chamber parliament.
Voters in North and South Douglas go to the polls next Thursday (21 May) to fill a vacant House of Keys seat in each constituency.
