Placements prioritised for Year 12 instead
The Education Department says work experience for those in Year 10 of secondary school has been scrapped this year because there isn't enough work placements available on the Island.
Students in the year group won't be taking part in the scheme, which usually sees pupils spending a fortnight outside of school and placed in a workplace.
DESC says working patterns and venues have changed considerably across the employment sector during the pandemic.
This year it's decided to target the opportunities towards Year 12s, who, it says, are likely to move straight into workforce at the end of their studies.
It says it plans to find additional employer links for the future.
