For the first time this year there will be a competition to find the novice marshal of the year.
The idea was the brainchild of local airline Manx2.com who will present a trophy to the winner, along with two return tickets to any destination on the airline's network.
Communications director for Manx2.com James Filleuil says they wanted to pay tribute to the vital work done by the hundreds who volunteer their time to allow the races to go ahead (audio file attached):
