A recruitment drive is on the way to find almost 30 extra nurses for Noble's hospital.
Health chiefs say the move will save the department half a million pounds a year - because it will no longer have to employ bank and agency nurses.
The equivalent of just under 29 new, full-time posts have been created, and the nurses will be allocated to acute wards, the accident and emergency department and the intensive care unit.
The move comes as the government head count is being reduced across the board, after Health Minister Howard Quayle persuaded the Council of Ministers substantial savings could be made.
