Mec Vannin reiterates stance ahead of Illiam Dhone commemoration
Manx nationalist group Mec Vannin says its members will refuse to stand for election to the House of Keys until the Oath of Allegiance is scrapped.
Chairman Mark Kermode was speaking ahead of Monday's Illiam Dhone commemoration in Castletown.
The annual event honours the man widely regarded as a Manx martyr, for securing the Isle of Man's independence.
The ceremony is held at Hango Hill, where Illiam Dhone was executed for treason in 1663, after he surrendered the Island to parliamentary forces during the English civil war.
Mr Kermode says republicans will not pursue their cause within the political system, while they're required to swear allegiance to the English monarchy:
