Public body will operate from DEFA headquarters
The Island's Office of Fair Trading moves from its long-standing home in the capital to a new base in St John's today (11 July).
All OFT staff and services - including consumer advice, trading standards and competition and pricing - will now operate from DEFA headquarters.
The effective merger frees-up a government building on Lord Street in Douglas for potential sale.
The OFT says consumer advice and debt counselling will still be offered to the public in Douglas, at Murray House in Mount Havelock.
A second public body the Road Transport Licensing Committee, is also relocating to St John's - vacating premises in Prospect House.
