The Mitre in Kirk Michael traced back to 1700s
A pub, thought to be the oldest on the Island, has been put forward for inclusion on the protected buildings list.
The Mitre in Kirk Michael, shown on plans drawn in 1785, was a popular inn due to its proximity to Bishopscourt and as far flung getaway for couples on their honeymoon.
It's been issued a 'Proposal to Register' which would keep it from being demolished or changed in a way which undermines its character.
Originally called the 'The Crown and Mitre', the person who ran it in 1813 moved to Ramsey and opened a pub there with the same name.
