Devotee to Manx causes receives MBE
A stalwart Island volunteer and fund-raiser says she's "shell-shocked" to be named in the Queen's New Year Honours list.
Douglas resident Olga Gray is to receive an MBE in recognition of more than 50 years service to the Manx community.
A lifelong involvement in amateur theatre was her motivation to help create the Manx Gateway drama group for people with learning disabilities.
She was key in gaining the Isle of Man as a venue for the British All Winners Festival of Plays, and at the age of 80 continues to perform and direct with local group the Legion Players.
A long-term campaigner for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Mrs Gray has read recorded news for the Manx Blind Welfare Society for 30 years.
She says she was brought up to give rather than take - and the honour came as a complete surprise:
