The Chairman of Onchan Commissioners says he doesn't believe there has been sufficient consultation on the introduction of fixed two year tenancies for those in public sector housing.
The Commissioners say they won't be introducing the measure on April 1st - going against the wishes of the Department of Social Care - and have written to Minister Chris Robertshaw to inform him of their decision.
The measures are contained in a draft policy document from the DSC, but the Commissioners say they don't believe this is in the best interest of its tenants and will therefore continue to offer them a weekly tenancy agreement.
