45-year-old handed 42-week jail sentence
An Onchan man’s been sent back to prison after burgling a car showroom following his early release.
Forty-five-year-old Michael Daniel Bergquist of Belgravia Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted burglary and attempted burglary in December last year.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the hearing Bergquist used a fire extinguisher to try to break into the IQ Apple reseller shop on Prospect Hill in the capital, but failed to get inside.
Just weeks later, he targeted Automann on Elm Tree Road in Onchan – this time managing to make off with iPads, an iPhone and laptop computer.
The court heard he’d left blood at the scene of both crimes, and was traced by DNA testing.
Bergquist had been released from jail early after being handed an eight and a half year term for armed robbery at RHS Jewellers in Douglas.
He was handed a 42-week jail sentence.
