Colour-coded system to appeal for assistance where needed
Residents at the top of Summerhill in Onchan have started posting ‘community help sheets’ through their neighbours’ doors, to get the elderly and vulnerable the assistance they need.
With many self-isolating - whether mandatory or voluntary - and government’s social distancing guidelines being enforced, the sheets give those who need help another way of communicating.
Following similar initiatives elsewhere, the folded sign is to be positioned in one’s letterbox or window, either with a red background saying “please could I have some help!”, or a green background saying “we are all safe and well”.
Organisers say “every home on the Island should have one,” as the Manx community stands together in the face of the pandemic.
