Douglas man denies eight allegations
One of five men standing trial for alleged physical abuse of pupils at a South Cumbria boarding school has been acquitted.
John Studley from Silverdale in Lancashire was yesterday (Tuesday) found not guilty of one assault allegation, on the direction of a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.
Four men remain on trial, including former school owner Derrick Cooper of Hillberry Green in Douglas.
The 77 year-old denies six charges alleging actual bodily harm assault and two child cruelty allegations dating back to the 1970s and 1980s.
