MHK baffled by lack of financial restrictions
A review of cost pressures in the Island's health service effectively amounts to an ‘open chequebook’, an MHK fears.
The year-long study, backed by Tynwald, is to be carried out by independent experts to identify ways to deliver and afford a modern healthcare system.
The Department of Health and Social Care has gone more than £30 million over budget in the last three years.
However, Onchan member Julie Edge fears without financial restrictions in place, the review could spiral out of control.
