'Operation Nightjar' targets drug supply in nighttime economy

Undercover officers target Island's licensed premises

Nineteen people from the Isle of Man have been charged with drug offences as part of a police initiative targeting the supply of Class A drugs in the nighttime economy.

Undercover officers targeted those dealing, predominantly in or around licensed premises, between July and November last year.

As a result of ‘Operation Nightjar’, and the covert evidence gathered, they were then arrested - between 30 January and 8 February this year - on suspicion of offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A number of cases are now being taken through the criminal justice system.
