Transplant waiting times could be slashed
Adopting an 'opt-out' system for organ donations could drastically decrease waiting times for transplants, a secular group has claimed.
Humanists UK has published a detailed response to an ongoing consultation on the matter, ahead of a Private Members' Bill being brought before Tynwald.
The group says studies show the availability of transplant organs has grown by a fifth in countries which have moved to a 'presumed consent' model.
It also claims greater awareness of the law makes people more willing to consider donating theirs.
Rachel Taggart-Ryan is from the group.
The consultation is running until 8 June.
