The Department of Agriculture's consultation period runs until May 5 and they are keen to hear from anyone involved in the organic food sector.
DAFF plans to increase payments to farmers to meet the costs of converting to the different production methods required and up the number of years they're available for.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture has updated definitions of agriculture and land eligible for a payment from the OFS, following the introduction of the Countryside Care Scheme.
DAFF says the proposed changes have been discussed with the Organic Working Group, which is made up of producers and consumers and have been broadly accepted by members.
It's hoped the measures will boost the Island's organic produce market from around £1.7 million to £2.7 million over the next five years.
If given the go-ahead, the amendments will be financed from within the existing departmental budget.
