The head of CinemaNX says he is delighted with the news Chico and Rita has been nominated for an Oscar.
Steve Christian says the film, which was shot partly in Douglas and employed ten animators from the Isle of Man, had been widely tipped beforehand to be shortlisted.
Those involved in the movie will find out if it's won the award for Best Animated Feature Film when the annual ceremony is held in Hollywood on February 26.
Mr Christian says it's already beaten some stiff competition to make the shortlist:
