The families of youngsters cared for at Rebecca House, the Isle of Man's children's hospice, are to be offered more professional help and advice from their own social worker.
The part-time post has been funded by Oskar's Dreams, a charity formed two years ago to help provide specialist care for seriously ill children.
The assistant social worker will help relatives with the many issues they face when a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, including finance, housing and benefits.
The charity was named in memory of Oskar Craig whose mother, Ali, says the social work service is a God-send in troubled times (play attached audio file):
