Ballakermeen remembers those who were once connected to the school
Students and staff from one of the Island's secondary schools are celebrating a day away from the classroom by taking to the great outdoors.
Over 1,300 pupils from Ballakermeen High School have embarked on their Memorial Walk to Port Soderick.
It takes place every two years to remember those connected with the school who have lost their lives, with money raised donated to charity.
This year, the school is raising money for Rebecca House.
Geography teacher Mr Shimmin spoke to Manx Radio as the first group made its way around Douglas Head onto Marine Drive.
He said the idea of having such an event came in 1991, after a 'treasured' member of staff passed away:
