Beach clean-up as outfall leak sealed
The MUA says its engineers have completed repairs to an outfall pipe, which has leaked raw sewage onto part of Ramsey beach.
Teams worked through last night and around the tides in what the authority says were difficult conditions.
Repairs to the breached Vollan outfall were finished at 3.30 am (11 Nov).
Members of the public have been kept away from north Mooragh beach, polluted by untreated sewage, during the operation.
The MUA says checks will be carried out at high and low tides today and cordons will remain until checks are complete and the beach has been fully cleansed.
Meanwhile, Ramsey Commissioners and the public have been thanked for their understanding and support, along with the work teams who dealt with the emergency.
