Govt assists two projects with grants
An Island aid worker says the Manx government must continue donating to global development projects if it wants to be considered an 'international player'.
Christian Aid's Isle of Man coordinator Louise Whitelegg says while there are many demands for public funding at home, giving aid enhances the Island's reputation around the world.
A £62,000 pound donation was made recently by government to the charity through its International Development Small Grants Scheme.
The funds will go to two projects, one to help disabled children in Zimbabwe, the other to increase the income of honey producers in Kenya.
Ms Whitelegg says offering relatively small sums of aid can make a real difference on the ground:
