Island residents are being urged to support Oxfam's World Food Crisis Appeal.
The rise in food prices means an estimated 119 million people are malnourished, adding to the 24,000 people who die daily of hunger-related causes.
Launched on Thursday, the appeal targets the poorest and most vulnerable areas to push millions to the brink of survival.
Donations can be made on-line at www.oxfam.org.uk or by dropping into the shop at 10 Castle Street in Douglas.
