The Steam Packet Company says many of those signing an online petition protesting the end of day trips to Liverpool in winter would not have used the service.
Almost 900 people have now put their names to the document at petitionsonline.com, calling for the government and Office of Fair Trading to intervene.
In a statement the company says it understands some people have been disappointed but it’s acting in the interest of the majority of passengers.
Laura Howland, on behalf of Managing Director Mark Woodward, says more people have signed the petition than have used the day trip facility.
