Public meeting to hear from Howard League for Penal Reform
Members of the public are being invited to consider whether prison works on the Isle of Man.
A prison reform charity, which seeks to reform the criminal justice system, will be leading the latest meeting of the Positive Action Group this evening (18 November).
Speaker Andrew Neilson from the Howard League for Penal Reform will discuss the subject which has been described as ‘very topical’ for the Island.
This, the PAG says, is in light of a population increase, suicides in custody, high reoffending rates and a lack of suitable accommodation for those leaving custody.
The meeting will take place at 7.30pm at the Manx Legion on Market Street in Douglas and is free to attend.
