13-year-old Hayden smelled gas at a property on his round
A 13 year old Port St Mary boy is being hailed a hero after his quick thinking prevented a possible explosion at a house in the village.
Hayden East was carrying out his paper round on for his Mum and Dad at Torden Stores, when he noticed a strong smell of gas coming from a customer's property.
Sensing the potential danger he called out, making sure he didn't switch the lights on do anything that may cause a spark. He told Manx Radio he was worried the house might explode.
The story had a happy ending when the female occupant was safely brought out by the emergency services.
