Alex was struck down by Guillian Barre Syndrome
A Manxman struck down with Guillian Barre Syndrome has regained the use of his legs after nearly a year of paralysis from the nose down.
Port St Mary Man Alex Keenan was transferred to the Walton Centre in Liverpool last year - where he's still recovering with the support of his family and friends.
The condition is brought on by the body's immune system, targeting the peripheral nervous system - now, he's learning to walk again.
His twin sister Leanne suffers from Multiple Sclerosis - also caused by an attack on the nervous system.
She tells a positive story of his gradual recovery:
Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital closure 'inconvenient' but 'significant issues' need to be fixed
Four local authorities looking for by-election candidates
Reinstatement of home births 'remains at top of agenda' for Manx Care
Weekend sailings at risk
Plans submitted for 85 new homes on former Buchan School site
