Manx Care says it's more efficient and cost effective
Meals for patients staying at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital are now being prepared at Noble's.
Manx Care says freshly cooking the food in Douglas means it can streamline the preparation to make it more efficient and cost effective.
It also claims the move reduces food wastage and helps meet dietary requirements of patients, including reducing the risk of cross-contamination for those with allergies.
Once cooked the food will then be chilled before being transported to the north of the Island.
It's said to be called the 'cook/chill method' and is also routinely used at Noble's Hospital already.
Manx Care insists the kitchen at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital has not been closed completely but will now only be heating meals sent from Noble's Hospital.
