A fishing boat which tangled with an underwater submarine this week has brought memories flooding back for a fisherman from Peel.
Geoffrey Comber says he underwent an almost identical ordeal 26 years ago today (Friday, 17th April) off the Island’s West coast when his boat was suddenly dragged backwards.
His crew had a lucky escape when they were forced to cut their gear loose in order to free themselves.
Mr Comber says in his case it quickly became clear what had been responsible:
