River flooding clogged drainage
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says Peel Road in Douglas may continue to flood in future despite a £4.3 million rebuild last year to improve drainage.
The project, which took more than a year to complete, was supposed to prevent flooding on the arterial route.
However, during last week’s heavy rains, it flooded for the second time since the road reopened last May.
Mr Gawne says the water backed up because the nearby river was too overloaded to cope with the run-off:
