Three-day hearing to decide whether project can go ahead
An appeal against the decision to grant planning permission for a new sewage treatment works in the west of the Island gets underway this morning.
Manx Utilities was given the go-ahead for the new facility in July, but a few weeks later the owner of land adjacent to the site of the proposed works lodged an appeal.
MU says the project would deliver critical national infrastructure and end the continuous discharge of raw sewage into Peel Bay, but the appellant believes policies weren't applied correctly by the planning committee.
The appeal is scheduled to take three days.
