A resident of a flat on Bucks Road in Douglas had to be rescued from their bed in the early hours of this morning, following a fire in their front room.
Crews from Douglas Fire Station were called out as they were alerted to smoke coming from the property just after 1am.
On arrival a team of fire officers in breathing apparatus went into the building from the first appliance on-scene and soon discovered the origin of the fire.
A high pressure hose reel and hand extinguishers were used to bring the fire under control and the person living there was quickly located.
They were taken to Noble's Hospital as a precaution, as they were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, but is not thought to be suspicious.
