Queen's Pier Restoration Trust now waits on gov't
Plans to restore an iconic landmark in Ramsey have moved a step further.
The Queen's Pier Restoration Trust has been granted preliminary planning permission to rejuvenate the first section of the structure.
Volunteers from the local community - including engineers, architects and practically-minded residents - are banding together to raise money and carry out the work themselves.
Development will begin pending a signed lease from the Manx government, which owns the pier.
Though the full scale project is estimated to require £1.5 million over the next five years, project manager Tom Durrant says money is needed in phases:

Consultation open on plans to formally recognise the heritage of Douglas Head
Drop-in session to support Isle of Man charities
Fundraiser to keep St John Ambulance emergency fleet on the road
Ayre and Michael MHKs request meeting with commissioners over rates
Data breach impact rises sharply as cyber incidents affect thousands on Isle of Man
