A former flybe and Manx Airlines pilot believes a top priority for the new Airport Director at Ronaldsway must be to reduce the number of flights that have to be cancelled due to poor visibility.
Steve Bridson believes the downgrading of the lighting system from 'intermediate' to 'basic,' during runway improvements in 2010 was a mistake.
It means during poor weather pilots now need at least 1000 metres visibility to land, compared to 700 metres before the change.
Mr Bridson says equipping the airfield to allow as many flights as possible to get in and out is far more important than cosmetic improvements to the terminal:
