Pinewood dominates Tynwald questions

Treasury's controversial plan to pump nearly £50 million into Pinewood Shepperton studios is the subject of many questions in Tynwald next week.

Eleven of the 55 for oral and written answer are on the subject, coming from four different MHKs; Kate Beecroft, Alf Cannan, Zac Hall and Peter Karran.

Mrs Beecroft leads the way with six questions for Treasury Minister Eddie Teare, including; whether shares in Pinewood Shepperton have been bought yet, whether normal due dilligence procedures were carried out prior to the deal and what percentage of the studio's films would be made on-Island.

Due dilligence is also the subject of Peter Karran's question, specifically why Mr Teare was picked to carry out the procedure, whether or not he was qualified to do so, and whether or not there was a conflict of interest in him doing so.

Alf Cannan wants to know about the share purchase and the potential impact of the nearby Warner Bros studios.

Finally, Zac Hall's question for written answer also asks about the share purchase and remaining cash in the Media Development Fund.
