Little girl is British Isles' youngest open heart patient
A local baby girl who defied medical odds has been nominated for a British Isles-wide award.
Catherine Cattle was born with an ultra rare heart condition, leading her to become Britain's youngest ever open cardiac surgery patient at just four weeks old.
But she bounced back from the high-risk procedure within just days - and is living a happy, healthy life at home, sixteen months on.
The British Heart Foundation has now shortlisted Catherine as a 'Young Heart Hero' for 2017.
Mum and Dad Emily and Robert Cattle say she's a special type of child: (play audio)
Voting for the awards is now open.
You can cast yours online at bhf.org.uk.
