Isle of Man Post tariff increases planned for the Spring are being brought into effect early in response to what are described as substantial, escalating costs.
The new prices will take effect from January 9th and will see the cost of a standard Isle of Man to UK stamp rise from 73 pence to 80 pence.
Letters, large letters and packages will all rise by 10 per cent. Also, from January 9th Jersey will be classed as an EU destination in terms of postal zones requiring customs information to be provided by customers posting to the Channel Island.
The cost of posting international small parcels will rise 12.5 per cent, and a replacement premium international parcel service will be introduced and called 'Global Priority' - replacing the Parcelforce Global Express service.
Ancillary services such as Keepsafe, PO Boxes and REdirect will all rise by 10 per cent.
Isle of Man Post chairman, Stu Peters MHK, says upward pressures on operating costs are anticipated well into the following business year.
The new tariffs will help protect Isle of Man Post's self-funding status.
